Evan's first train trip
Mark got a spontaneous urge to take a day trip with Evan on the train. He sprung it on me an hour before the train departed, so I had to rush around, take a shower, get Evan ready and out the door. Evan really enjoyed the train ride. It's only about a 35 minute ride to Union Station. Every time the train stopped, Evan would say, "More train?" He sat very patiently in his little seat.
When we arrived in LA, we headed straight to Phillipe's for breakfast. Then we walked through Chinatown and let Evan run around the plaza. Then we went to the Geffen and walked through Andrea Zittel's exhibition: Critical Space. Very cool! Compartmentalized living spaces. We had lunch at a Cuban restaurant across the street. Yummy banana chips with mango salsa and chorizo hamburger! MMMM! Then we just kind of wandered around and headed back to the train station. Evan fell asleep in the stroller which was great because we had to stand in line until just before our train departed.
The ride home was standing room only. Thank God it was only 35 minutes. NOBODY offered to give me and Evan a seat. That really made me angry. The last thing you want to do after you've been walking around for 5 hours is stand in the middle of the aisle holding a 26 lb. toddler for 35 min. We were so glad to get back to our car and be at home again.
But overall, it was a really enjoyable day and Evan did great being out all day.
