Cast Away

All those times that Mark half-jokingly warned Evan not to jump on the bed because he might fall and break his arm....well, it finally happened.  Tonight, Evan experienced a new milestone of boyhood:  getting his first cast.  Poor thing fell off the bed this morning and had been wimpering on and off all day because he was in pain.  But I had no idea it was broken.  I was even thinking of waiting till the next morning to get it checked out depending on how Evan felt.  Thankfully, Mark came home and strongly suggested we go tonight.  We spent 3 hours in urgent care and received great care from 2 wonderful doctors who were Oh So kid-friendly.

The gentleman who put the cast on was chatting with Evan, trying to amuse/distract him.  He told Evan that he was being brave like a Ranger.

He asked Evan, "Do you want to be a ranger when you grow up?"

And Evan answered, "No!  I want to be an abstract painter!"

I said, "Betchya never heard that one before!"

"No, I certainly haven't," he said smiling.

That's ma boy!
